My Brother’s Keeper Columbus
Inspired by the national movement from President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative, the City of Columbus established MBK Village in 2017. In 2025, it transitioned to MBK Columbus, reinforcing its commitment to advancing equity and opportunity for boys and young men of color. The initiative focuses on six milestones, including ensuring all boys enter school ready to learn and all young men graduate from high school ready for college and career. Green Columbus is a sustainability-focused nonprofit striving to activate volunteer engagement, grow equitable tree canopy coverage, and foster resilient communities. Since 2007, the organization has planted over 300,000 trees, aiming to increase tree coverage across all Columbus communities. Since 2019, IMPACT Community Action has been a leader in climate justice, partnering with residents of Columbus’ opportunity neighborhoods to reduce the effects of climate change on those most vulnerable. Key initiatives include the creation of the Climate Action Plan, education and advocacy programs to reduce energy consumption, community engagement to gather feedback on pollution impacts, promotion of solar initiatives, and development of a clean energy workforce program. Star House
Star House operates Central Ohio’s only drop-in center for youth, ages 14-24, experiencing homelessness. Open 16 hours daily, 365 days a year, the center provides immediate access to safe respite, food, clothing, hygiene items, and showers.
